

Alicia Rubio
Vocalist and Violinist
Alicia Rubio is a violinist, vocalist, and music educator. She performs at events, both as a soloist and with mariachi throughout central Texas. She's a recent graduate with a Master's degree in Latin Music, with a concentration in mariachi vocal performance, from Texas State University, where she studied under the direction of the award-winning mariachi vocal specialist, Professor Michelle Quintero. Alicia Rubio received a Certificate of Proficiency in Music: Mariachi Specialization from Southwestern Community College in 2014. In 2016, she graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Music, with a Concentration in Performance, from The Bob Cole Conservatory, where she studied classical violin under the direction of Andrea Byers. Furthermore, in 2018, she completed the equivalent coursework to a Single Subject Teaching Credential in Instrumental Music from California State University, Long Beach. Throughout her performance career, Alicia has collaborated with prominent artists and participated in various musical productions, most notably as a member of the Two-Time Grammy Award-winning Mariachi Divas de Cindy Shea since 2018. Alicia also has extensive teaching experience, having taught students from TK-12 in public schools and private settings for over 19 years. She is currently a violinist for San Marcos Artist Retention and Training Orchestra and Mariachi Relampago, a mariachi instructor at Centro Cultural Hispano de San Marcos, and an active mariachi clinician and adjudicator in central Texas. Recently, Alicia became a music professor at Palo Alto College, where she teaches mariachi, violin, and other music classes.
